Platinum: Tanzanians trounce Kenyan artists by achieving over 100 million views

The music war between Kenya and Tanzania as to who has clout in the industry has officially been won by President John Pombe Magufuli’s crop of talent.
This is according to a report by Research 8020.

Tanzania has two artists (Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize) in the top 10 who hold an enviable rating of Platinum having attained 100 million views and above online.
Kenya has zero.

In the Tanzanian list, Diamond leads the pack with his song Nana, catapulting him ahead of Wasafi label mate Harmonize who is hot on his heels with Kwangwaru.
Third with a Gold rating (10-99 million views) is another Wasafi bigwig Rayvanny with his hit Kwetu before Bongo Flava heavyweight Ali Kiba vrooms into the fourth place with Mwana.

Fifth and sixth places are firmly held by former Yamoto Band members Aslay (Mhudumu) and Mbosso (Jibebe). The band still rolls in on number seven with their song Nitakupwelepeta before Darasa and Navy Kenzo close the top ten list with Muziki and Katika respectively.
In Kenya, the best rating is Gold.

Sauti Sol tops with Melanin, Willy Paul comes second with I do, Mercy Masika is third with Mwema, Nyashinski is fourth with Malaika, fifth is Otile Brown with Chaguo la moyo, Ebenezer takes the late Angela Chibalonza to seventh place.

Position eight is Sanaipei Tande with Amina, ninth is Florence Andenyi with Kibali and finally Akothee with Sweet Love.

Tanzanian music better than Kenyan and Ugandan.
According to the report, “if all the musicians in East Africa were to be ranked together into the top 10, Tanzania would have 6 of the 10. Kenya would have 3 and Uganda 1.

“In terms of order, Tanzania would take the first 4 slots, then Kenya’s best artists (Sauti Sol) would be number 5, Aslay from Tanzania would be number 6 then Uganda would debut at number7 (EddyKenzo). Number 8 would be Mbosso (TZ), 9 Willy Paul (KE) and 10 Mercy Masika (KE).”
It is about time Kenyans seriously supported their own.
